United We Stand…

Divided We Fall…

All for One and One For All!

Alexandre Dumas coined this statement when he wrote “The Three Musketeers” in 1844. This was 174 years ago and it seems as though as a society we have yet to grasp the meaning of Alexandre’s phrase!

At the end of 2016 there were 12,956 cases of sexual assault reported in the Australian State of Victoria. This number is sadly still going up!

Are we mad?

Are we insane?

Are we holding onto pent up anger?

Are we so caught up in Things that we have disconnected from our own humanity?

I believe that it is past time for us to come together and create the world in which we wish to Live in and Be Part of.

It has been said… “It takes a village to raise a child”, seeing how the average family has two children and both parents usually have to both work full time to make ends meet we might be falling short of our  “Village” statement!

If it takes a village to raise a child, what does it take to maintain a community?

I was chosen to teach a Self Defence to the employees of Fox FM and Triple M radio. I believe that empowering others and preparing them for incidents that may occur is paramount to maintaining Community.

A parent’s job is to prepare their children for the multitude of roads ahead. As a coach I feel that it is my duty to empower those I interact with with the ability and the fortitude to not only take on the multitude of roads ahead, but to provide them with the desire to look forward to the challenges that may come with every endeavour they face!

We have the luxury of living in a world where most of the responsibilities have been removed from our lives. When faced with boredom there’s Google! When asked “why are you late?” we can blame traffic. When our neighbours’ dog is barking we can call the police on them. Whatever happened to going to our neighbour and knocking on the door and asking them to be considerate of the noise? What happened to taking responsibility for the things that take place in our lives?

When I was asked to impart my understanding of Self Defence onto the Fox Fm and Triple M crew I now had a new responsibility. I wanted to share my knowledge of Wing Chun and Aikido with these guys and gals. Yet there are so many style names and techniques to learn!

I had to come up with a method of teaching these terms in a way that could be easily applied and remembered. It’s simple to show someone something… It takes a great deal more effort to share with others How, and Why the “something” you are sharing can benefit them in more ways than one.

I’ll take this time to give a big shout out and thank you to the late and great Nate Dogg! His lyrics “Hold Up” from the Snoop Dog song “Next Episode” assisted me greatly! Also I’d like to thank MC Hammer for his song “Pray” and lastly I would like to shout out to the Queen for her formal wave that I based a great deal of my teachings on.

I believe that it takes Responsibility to maintain a community. These people that I trained are part of my community. It only took me to go within and create a method in which to easily impart knowledge that I’ve learned.

When we decide to take responsibility for ourselves and our own actions we can then be better prepared to not only empower ourselves, but those within our community to become more than they were. I have also discovered that there is a great deal more to be discovered by all parties involved when we share not only information, but aspects of ourselves!

If we stood strong like the cells and organs within our bodies we would always be United. In this regard we would never allow the Things outside (opinions of others) divide us in any way, shape, or form! We could show compassion and look at the problems that are causing the disruptions we face in our society, versus focusing on all of the symptoms that are running ramped in our society today!
